New York City proved an inspirational home for O'Keeffe during one period of her life, and the busy lifestyle here gave her the idea of enlarged flower portraits. She was also to produce several cityscape portraits too, including several well known skyscrapers from the city's sprawling layout. Paintings such as these have offered us something quite different in her career, when compared to the other themes for which she is so famous.
